Ambroxide, widely known by the brand name Ambroxan, is a naturally occurring terpenoid and one of the key constituents responsible for the odor of ambergris. It is an autoxidation product of ambrein.

生产方法
合成降龙香醚以紫苏醇为原料,经KMnO4两步氧化(瑞士用臭氧氧化,俄罗斯用得铬酸钠氧化)。即
(1)碱性氧化;
(2)弱酸性氧化。得氧化物,然后将氧化物皂水、脱水、内酯化,则得降龙涎内酯。将内酯用氢化锂铝在乙醚中(或用硼烷在四氢呋喃中)还原成降龙涎二醇。用D-樟脑-β-磺酸作环化剂,环合二醇,即得降龙涎醚
用途
常作香皂、爽身粉、膏霜和香波中作加香、定香用
